August 2013 – Wimpy Little Knotweed Resprouts A wimpy little knotweed resprout. It’s not even green. A not-so-wimpy knotweed resprout. This one is green. Another wimpy one. I’ll bet this one sprouted from a little fragment of rhizome that we missed. It was easy to pull up.

July 2013 Pretty Yellow Daisies Bloom Over Former Knotweed Scattering seeds, of plants that had already bloomed and dried out, over this area the year before worked!
Great Blue Heron a Frequent Visitor On more than one occasion, Steve witnessed a great blue heron swallowing a frog whole. It seems the camera is never there when you need it!
Deer Ate Our Green Giants Green Giant arborvitaes are supposedly deer-proof, however, the tender young foliage here was evidently irresistible.
Just Passing Through We planted elderberry shrugs in the back acre twice, just for the deer. However, none of them survived. They got eaten!
